Common-mode voltage mitigation in multiphase electric motor drive systems

چکیده

Common-mode voltage (CMV) produces serious reliability and electromagnetic interference (EMI) issues in modern pulse-width modulated (PWM) electric drives. Such will become more prominent the near future, as industry moves towards introduction of wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductor technologies operating at higher switching frequencies also with greater dvdt. In this context, multiphase drive can be great interest, their additional degrees freedom exploited to reduce CMV. This work aims study potential motor systems for CMV mitigation. To do so, a comprehensive review most recent scientific literature is conducted, mainly focusing on high impact works published recently. As result, clear up-to-date picture common technologies, i.e., (m+1)-leg, multiple three-phase, open-end star-connected provided along reduction potential. Not only topologies themselves but modulation techniques are analysed presented, systems. conclusion, it stated that such promising candidates substitute conventional three-phase drives as, apart from well-known advantages (efficiency, power density, splitting, fault tolerance), confirmed. The technical information help researchers field engineers design develop high-performance

A New Hybrid Cascaded Multilevel Inverter Fed Induction Motor Drive with Mitigation of Bearing Currents and Low Common Mode Voltage

This paper deals with new hybrid multilevel inverter fed induction motor drive. It focuses on the different topologies to mitigate the common mode voltages, bearing currents and their effects on the drive. In proposed topology, the total harmonic distortion (THD) is reduced with more number of steps in output voltage without using pulse width modulation techniques. The main advantage of this pr...

Common mode oscillations in electrical drive systems

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis of common mode oscillations of several kilohertz in electrical drive systems. The analysed oscillations occur especially in electrical drive systems with active front end (AFE), common DC link and long motor cables and are independent of the well-known reflection phenomenon. Owing to the resulting overvoltages, the motor isolation li...

Three-level inverter configuration with common- mode voltage elimination for induction motor drive

A scheme for a three-level voltage space phasor generation with common-mode voltage elimination is proposed. An open-end-winding induction motor, fed from both ends by two threelevel inverters, which are realised by a cascading two two-level inverter, is used in this configuration. The voltage space vectors of individual three-level inverters, which generate the same commonmode voltage in the i...

Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation with Reduced Common Mode Voltage and Current Losses for Six-Phase Induction Motor Drive with Three-Level Inverter

Common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by the inverter causes motor bearing failures in multiphase drives. On the other hand, presence of undesired z-component currents in six-phase induction machine (SPIM) leads to extra current losses and have to be considered in pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. In this paper, it is shown that the presence of z-component currents and CMV in six phase driv...
